Photoshop > Black and White

Step 1: Start off by opening Photoshop, and than opened your desired image. File -> Open.

Step 2: Now go up to Image -> Adjustments -> Desaturate or you can just hit (CTRL + Shift + U) on your keyboard.

Now you probably have noticed, your image is now Black and White, you can pretty much say your done, but I liked to add a little effect.

Step 3: Now you need to duplicate the layer. Layer -> Duplicate Layer... and just hit "Ok" to the defaults. Or the easier method is to drag your layer onto the new layer icon.

And you should now have this.

Step 4: With your new layer selected like above, go up to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur. Put in a 5px radius and hit "Ok." You should have something like below.

Now change the blending mode to "Overlay" and the Fill to 50%.

Your outcome should be something like this!
